| CatalogCode: | R-171-100 |
| ProductName: | GPx-3 Antibody |
| Product Description: | Rabbit Polyclonal anti-GPx-3 |
| Clonality: | Polyclonal |
| Immunogen: | A synthetic peptide (FEKGDVNGEKEQKFYTFLKN) corresponding to the amino acids 135-154 of human glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPx-P) conjugated to diphtheria toxin has been used as the immunogen. The peptide is homologous with the corresponding sequence derived from glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPx-P) protein in mouse, rat, orangutan and bovine. |
| Specificity: | This antibody has been shown to be specific for glutathione peroxidase 3 protein (GPx-P). |
| CrossReactivity: | Human and rat, other species have not yet been ested. |
| Packaging: | 0.1 ml Whole Rabbit antisera. |
| Uses: | IHC, WB. This is an extremely high titre antibody that detects 500 ng of peptide antigen on western blotting up to a dilution of 1: 500000. A dilution o f 1: 1000 to 1: 5000 is recommended for immunohistochemistry depending on detection method but end user will need to determine dilution to suit application. Antigen retrieval is recommended. For Western blotting it is recommended that several dilutions be tested in the range 1: 5000 to 1: 50000 although higher dilutions could be use if the antigen is in abundance in sample. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. |
| Localization: | Accession Number: GPX3_HUMAN |
| Background: | FUNCTION: Protects cells and enzymes from oxidative damage, by catalyzing the reduction of hydrogen peroxide, lipid peroxides and organic hydroperoxide, by glutathione. CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: 2 glutathione + H2O2 = glutathione disulfide + 2 H2O. SUBUNIT: Homotetramer. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted protein. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Secreted in plasma. PTM: The N-terminus is blocked. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the glutathione peroxidase family. |
