This receptor is involved in arachidonate release and in the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascade. SSTR4 mediates the antiproliferative action of somatostatin in tumor cells. SSTR4 has been reported to be expressed in brain, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, and prostate tissues. No ESTs have been identified. |
