| Background: | FAS (Fatty Acid Synthase) is a central enzyme in de novo lipogenesis (triglyceride production). It is a target for SREBP and is upregulated by LXR activation. Fatty liver is often the result of FAS activation. It is also one of the accepted markers for insulin resistance and SREBP , LXR activation. |
