Mouse Monoclonal anti-Cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Protein I (C-1) | Novus Biologicals antibody product information
CatalogCode:NB300-539
ProductName:Cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Protein I Antibody
Product Description:Mouse Monoclonal anti-Cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Protein I (C-1)
Clone:C-1
Clonality:Monoclonal
Immunogen:Oxidized CRABP 1 from bovine retina
Specificity:Detects cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Protein 1 (CRABP 1). This antibody does not cross-react with Cellular Retinol Binding Protein (CRBP), performic acid oxidized CRBP, interphotoreceptor retinoid binding protein or retinol binding protein.
CrossReactivity:Cross-reacts with Human, Rabbit, Rat, Cow, Cat, Chicken, Primate and Reptiles. Not yet tested in other species.
Packaging:0.1 ml Ascites Mouse ascites.
Uses:Immunohistochemistry: use at a dilution of 1/250 Western Blot: use at a dilution of 1/1000 ELISA: Assay dependent. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions / concentrations should be determined buy the end user. By Western blot, this antibody detects a 16 kDa protein representing CRABP 1 from rat retinal supernatant. Immunohistochemical staining of CRABP 1 in rat retina results in its localization to amacrine somata and laminae in the inner plexiform layer.
Background:Retinoic acid (RA), a metabolite of vitamin A, plays an important role in growth and differentiation by modulation of expression of certain genes. RA functions through its interaction with the nuclear protein, retinoic acid receptor (RAR) and the 9-cis RA with retinoid X receptor (RXR). The Cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Proteins (CRABP) bind RA with a high affinity and belong to the family of fatty acid binding proteins. Two forms of CRABP have been characterized, CRABP 1 and CRABP 2 which share ~75% sequence conservation. The main role of CRABP 1 may be to protect retinoids from non-specific dehydrogenases and direct them to specific enzymes. The precise role of CRABP 2 is still poorly understood but it seems to play a role in the interaction of ligands (RA, 9-cis RA) with nuclear receptors (RAR/RXR).
