| CatalogCode: | NB120-738 |
| ProductName: | Tyrosinase Antibody |
| Product Description: | Mouse Monoclonal anti-Tyrosinase (T311) |
| Clone: | T311 |
| Clonality: | Monoclonal |
| Immunogen: | Recombinant full length protein. |
| Specificity: | This antibody is specific to a cluster of proteins between 70-80 kD known as tyrosinase. This antibody does not show any cross-reaction with MAGE-1 and tyrosinase-related protein-1, TRP-1/gp75. Staining of melanomas with this antibody showed tyrosinase in melanotic as well as amelanotic variants. |
| CrossReactivity: | Cross-reacts with Human. Not yet tested in other species. |
| Packaging: | 0.5 ml Immunogen affinity purified Mouse ascites. |
| Uses: | Suggested incubation of 30 minutes at RT. High temperature treatment of formalin-fixed tissue sections using 1mM EDTA, pH 8.0 must be performed prior to the immunostaining. |
| Localization: | Type I membrane protein. Melanosomal. |
| Control: | Melanoma |
| Background: | Studies have shown tyrosinase to be a very specific marker for melanomas, not cross reacting with any other tumors or normal tissues tested Other studies have shown tyrosinase to be a more sensitive marker when compared to HMB-45 and MART-1. It has also shown to label a higher percentage of desmoplastic melanomas than HMB-45. However, both tyrosinase and MART-1 negative staining was seen in those variants without an epidermal component. Unlike HMB-45, neither tyrosinase or MART-1 discriminates between activated or resting melanocytes. In conclusion, tyrosinase appears to be a superior melanoma marker when compared to HMB-45. |
