Background:Paxillin is a cytoskeletal protein involved in actin-membrane attachment at sites of cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (focal adhesion) (1). Paxillin plays a significant role in integrin signaling and the tyrosine phosphorylation of paxillin is required for integrin-mediated cytoskeletal reorganization (2). Paxillin is phosphorylated by focal adhesion kinase (FAK) at Tyr118 (3). It has been found that phosphorylation of paxillin at both Tyr118 and Tyr31 is essential for MM1 cancer cell migration (4).
