| Background: | CD20, also known as B1 and MS4A1, is a human B lymphocyte surface molecule expressed on both normal and malignant cells that functions as a receptor during B cell activation. It is also involved in the regulation of cell progression in B lymphocyrtes as either a component or a regulator of intracellular calcium levels (1-2). CD20 is phosphorylated on serines primarily and threonines but not tyrosines. Monoclonal antibodies against CD20 are used to treat B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (3). |
