Uses:This antibody can be used for Western blot analysis, where a band is seen at ~39 kDa.
Localization:Cytoplasm. Colocalizatd with PLIN and ADRP on the surface of lipid droplets. The localization is dependant upon the metabolic status of the adipocytes and the activity of PKA.
Background:The CGI-58 protein belongs to a large family of proteins characterized by an á/â hydrolase fold. CGI-58 protein is involved in the lipid metabolism of lamellar granules. Defective lipid production in lamellar granules, caused by a CGI-58 protein deficiency, is involved in the pathogenesis of ichthyosis in Dorfman-Chanarin syndrome. Dorfman-Chanarin syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive inherited lipid storage disease characterized by the presence of intracellular lipid droplets in most tissues.
Storage:Store at 4C short term.  Aliquot and store at -20C long term.  Avoid freeze thaw cycles.
