Background:Citron is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the myotonic dystrophy kinase family. This kinase contains an AGC-kinase C-terminal domain, CNH domain, PH domain, phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc finger, and protein kinase domain. Citron kinase can be produced in at least two different isoforms: Citron Rho-interacting kinase (CRIK) and CRIK-short kinase (SK). CRIK is a 231 kD protein in which the kinase domain is followed by the sequence of Citron, a previously identified Rho/Rac binding protein. SK is a ~54 kD protein which consists mostly of the kinase domain. Citron kinase binds to Rho-GTP and has been shown to be involved in the regulation of cytokinesis, control of G2/M transition in the hepatocyte cell cycle, and the development of the central nervous system. The Poly6363 antibody recognizes both human Citron Rho-interacting kinase (CRIK) and CRIK-short kinase (SK), and has been shown to be useful for immunofluorescent staining.
