| Background: | This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes human GCN2 also known as Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha kinase 4, EIF2AK4, GCN2 eIF2alpha kinase and KIAA1338. GCN2 is a ubiquitously expressed cytoplasmic protein, contains a larger region adjacent to the protein kinase domain that is similar in sequence to histidyl-tRNA synthetases(HisRSs), predicted molecular weight approximately 92 kD. GCN2 belongs to a family of stress-responsive protein kinases that phosphorylate the alpha subunit of eukaryotic translation initiation factor-2 to regulate general and gene-specific protein synthesis under various cellular stress conditions. GCN2 has been shown to interact with eIF2? protein. The poly6304 antibody has been shown to be useful for Western blotting. |
