| Background: | Rad17 (also known as Rad17 homolog and Rad17-like protein) has four reported isoforms FM1-FM4, with molecular weights of approximately 71 kD, 73 kD, 57 kD, and 62 kD, respectively. This nuclear protein functions as a cell cycle checkpoint gene required for cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair in response to DNA damage. Rad17 is a component of the checkpoint clamp loader complex (Rad17/Rfc2-5) and recruits the RAD1-RAD9-HUS1 checkpoint protein complex onto chromatin. Rad17 can be modified by phosphorylation and has been shown to associate with chromatin, DNA replication factor C, ATR, and Hus1. The Poly6145 recognizes human, mouse, and rat phosphorylated Rad17 (Ser645) and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting. |
