| Background: | Cdc6 is a 62 kD member of the AAA superfamily ATPase containing a Walker A-box. This protein is expressed in the nucleus during the G1 phase of the cell cycle and in the cytoplasm during S phase. Cdc6 regulates the early steps of DNA replication and is essential for the initiation of DNA replication.Cdc6 is controlled through mitogenic signals by E2F transcriptional control. Cellular localization of Cdc6 changes through phosphorylation by Cdks, degradation through E3 ubiquitin ligase SCF(Cdc4). This protein has been shown to associate with Cyclin A/CDK2 complex, ORC1, ORC2, MCM7, CDC28, and CDC4. The Poly6014 antibody recognizes both human and mouse Cdc6 and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting. |
