| Background: | CD5, a 67 kD glycoprotein, is a member of the scavenger receptor superfamily. It is expressed on thymocytes, T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 has been reported to associate with the T cell receptor, the B cell receptor and many accessory proteins (CD21, CD4, CD8). In some cases, CD5 can augment signaling, while in other cases it appears to confer an inhibitory signal (depending on the cell type and the differentiation state). |
