| CatalogCode: | NB100-66295 |
| ProductName: | PROTEIN C Antibody |
| Product Description: | Sheep Polyclonal anti-PROTEIN C |
| Clonality: | Polyclonal |
| Immunogen: | Protein C purified from human plasma |
| Specificity: | NB100-66295 is specific for protein C, a vitamin K-dependent serine protease that regulates blood coagulation by inactivating factors Va and VIIIa in the presence of calcium ions and phospholipids. It is converted to activated protein C by the thrombomodulin/thrombin complex on the phospholipd surface of endothelial cells, monocytes and platelets. |
| CrossReactivity: | Human. Not yet tested in other species. |
| Packaging: | 1 ml of Purified IgG |
| Uses: | This antibody is useful for Western Blot |
| Localization: | Secreted |
| Background: | Protein C is a vitamin K dependent serine protease zymogen. Purified human activated protein C selectively destroys factors Va and VIII:C in human plasma and thus has an important anticoagulant role. Protein C deficiency has been associated with inherited thrombophilia. In its primary structure, protein C is similar to the prothrombin group of blood coagulation factors. It most closely resembles factor X. Protein C is synthesized as a single chain; this precursor molecule is cleaved into a light chain and a heavy chain held together by a disulfide bond. The enzyme is then activated by thrombin, which cleaves a tetradecapeptide from the amino end of the heavy chain. |
