| CatalogCode: | NB100-661 |
| ProductName: | TAOK1 Antibody |
| Product Description: | Rabbit Polyclonal anti-TAOK1 |
| Clonality: | Polyclonal |
| Immunogen: | The epitope maps to a region between residues 400 and 450 of human TAO Kinase 1 using the numbering given in entry NP_065842.1 (GeneID 57551). |
| CrossReactivity: | Human. Not tested in other species. Reactivity with mouse TAOK1 is likely owing to identity of sequence between this ortholog and human TAOK1 at the site to which the epitope maps. |
| Packaging: | 0.1 ml affinity purified antisera |
| Uses: | Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. Prepare working dilution immediately before use. Suggested starting dilutions are as follows.Western Blot: 1:5,000 to 1:20,000.Immunoprecipitation: 2-5 ug/mg lysateHisto/Cytochemistry: not tested. In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated. |
| Background: | TAOK1, a member of the Ste20 kinase family, is a TAO type protein kinase that acts as an upstream activator to MARK by phosphorylation. When activated, MARK enhances microtubule dynamics and leads to phosphorylation and detachment of tau or equivalent MAPs from microtubules. Overexpression of MARK eventually leads to microtubule breakdown and cell death, but in neuronal cells the primary effect is to allow the development of neurites during differentiation. |
