| Immunogen: | Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa 163-176 of human HR23B. |
| Specificity: | NB100-63175 detects human HR23B (hHR23B), one of two human homologues (together with hHR23A) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad23, a protein involved in the nucleotide excision repair (NER). hHR23B is thought to be the principle damage recognition factor in global genome repair in humans, a sub-pathway in the NER pathway. The hHR23 proteins also function in the regulation of protein stability, and play a critical role in the activation and function of p53 after DNA damage. hHR23B was colocalised with p53 at the p21 promoter after DNA damage, suggesting that ubiquitinated p53 species, protected by hHR23B, might function in p53 transcriptional responses. |
