| Uses: | Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:1,000.Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 75kDa band in Human and Rat Pancreas lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 25.0kDa according to NP_006818.3. The 75kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any further splice variants/modified forms been reported? |
| Background: | **Please note, this product is one of a range of Investigative Grade antibodies, made against targets that have limited or no commercial antibodies available to them and for which there are no data on the expression of the protein in the range of common cell lines and tissues available to us. These antibodies are affinity purified using their peptide immunogen and are known to give low background staining in a western blot. However no additional claims are made for their ability to recognise native protein in any application. This gene is a member of the EMP24/GP25L/p24 family and encodes a protein with a GOLD domain. This type I membrane protein is localized to the plasma membrane and golgi cisternae and is involved in vesicular protein trafficking. The protein is also a member of a heteromeric secretase complex and regulates the complex's gamma-secretase activity without affecting its epsilon-secretase activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with early-onset familial Alzheimer's disease. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 8. |
