| CatalogCode: | | NB100-2451 |
| ProductName: | | PTCH Antibody |
| Product Description: | | Goat Polyclonal anti-PTCH |
| Clonality: | | Polyclonal |
| Immunogen: | | Synthetic peptide: ELQDVECEERPR, representing the C Terminus of the human protein according to NP_000255.1 |
| CrossReactivity: | | Expected reactivity based upon sequence homology: Human, Mouse, Rat |
| Packaging: | | 0.1 mg Immunogen affinity purified Goat antisera. |
| Uses: | | Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:8,000. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 28kDa band in Human Brain, Duodenum and Heart lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 161kDa according to NP_000255.1. The 28kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any further splice variants/modified forms been reported? |
| Background: | | **Please note, this product is one of a range of Investigative Grade antibodies, made against targets that have limited or no commercial antibodies available to them and for which there are no data on the expression of the protein in the range of common cell lines and tissues available to us. These antibodies are affinity purified using their peptide immunogen and are known to give low background staining in a western blot. However no additional claims are made for their ability to recognize native protein in any application This gene encodes a member of the patched gene family. The encoded protein is the receptor for sonic hedgehog, a secreted molecule implicated in the formation of embryonic structures and in tumorigenesis. This gene functions as a tumor suppressor. Mutations of this gene have been associated with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, trichoepitheliomas, transitional cell carcinomas of the bladder, as well as holoprosencephaly. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Additional splice variants have been described, but their full length sequences and biological validity cannot be determined currently. |
