| ProductName: | | VPS16 Antibody |
| Product Description: | | Goat Polyclonal anti-VPS16 |
| Clonality: | | Polyclonal |
| Immunogen: | | Synthetic peptide: C-KQHNKYEAKK, representing the internal region of the human protein according to NP_072097.2; NP_536339.1; NP_536338.1 |
| Specificity: | | This antibody is expected to recognise all three reported isoforms (NP_072097.2, NP_536339.1 and NP_536338.1). |
| CrossReactivity: | | Expected reactivity based upon sequence homology: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog |
| Packaging: | | 0.1 mg Immunogen affinity purified Goat antisera. |
| Uses: | | Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:64,000. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx 55kDa and 26kDa in Human Placenta lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 94.7kDa for isoform 1 according to NP_072097.2, of 36.8kDa for isoform 2 according to NP_536339.1 and of 78.3kDa for isoform 3 according to NP_536338.1. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands). We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any further splice variants/modified forms been reported? |

| NotesMain: | | **Please note, this product is one of a range of Investigative Grade antibodies, made against targets that have limited or no commercial antibodies available to them and for which there are no data on the expression of the protein in the range of common cell lines and tissues available to us. These antibodies are affinity purified using their peptide immunogen and are known to give low background staining in a western blot. However no additional claims are made for their ability to recognise native protein in any application Vesicle mediated protein sorting plays an important role in segregation of intracellular molecules into distinct organelles. Genetic studies in yeast have identified more than 40 vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) genes involved in vesicle transport to vacuoles. This gene encodes the human homolog of yeast class C Vps16 protein. The mammalian class C Vps proteins are predominantly associated with late endosomes/lysosomes, and like their yeast counterparts, may mediate vesicle trafficking steps in the endosome/lysosome pathway. |
