Rabbit Polyclonal anti-IRP2 | Novus Biologicals antibody product information
CatalogCode:NB100-1798SS
ProductName:IRP2 Antibody
Product Description:Rabbit Polyclonal anti-IRP2
Clonality:Polyclonal
Immunogen:A synthetic peptide made to an internal portion of the murine IRP2 protein sequence (between residues 100-200). UniProt Q811J3
CrossReactivity:This antibody reacts with mouse IRP2 protein. Inital results have shown poor reactivity against human protein. The immunogen used for this antibody production has 94% homology with human and rat proteins.
Packaging:0.025 ml Rabbit antisera.
Uses:By Western blot a band at ~105 kDa is seen. Note that in brain lysates it has been reported that IRP2 appears to be degraded by low concentrations of free iron. Addition of 50 uM deferoxamine to the lysis buffer to chelate free iron appears to prevent this degradation.
Localization:Cytoplasmic
Background:Iron regulatory protein 2 (IRP2) is a central post-transcriptional regulator of cellular and systemic iron metabolism. It is a cytosolic RNA-binding protein that binds to stem-loop structures. IRP2 is regulated by iron-mediated proteolysis. Hypoxia is important for normal tissue physiology as well as being a component of several pathophysiological conditions, including heart and cerebrovascular diseases and tumor growth. Because iron and oxygen are closely related, IRP2 also plays a role during hypoxia (low oxygen).
Storage:Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze thaw cycles.
Host_Name:Rabbit
Buffer:Tris-glycine and 150mM NaCl
