| CatalogCode: | NB100-1671 |
| ProductName: | IL-6 Antibody |
| Product Description: | Rat Monoclonal anti-IL-6 (MP5-20F3) |
| Clone: | MP5-20F3 |
| Clonality: | Monoclonal |
| Specificity: | Specifically neutralises mouse IL-6. It does not cross-react with LPS (the component of the bacterial cell wall which is considered responsible for the toxicity of gram-negative bacteria) and TNF alpha. |
| CrossReactivity: | Cross-reacts with Mouse. Does not cross-react with Human or Rat. Not yet tested in other species. |
| Packaging: | 0.5 ml IgG purified Rat ascites. |
| Uses: | EIA: Use at an assay dependent concentration. Inhib: Use at an assay dependent concentration. Neut: Use at an assay dependent concentration. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. For neutralisation of biological activity, dilutions have to be made according to the amount of IL-6 to be inactivated. Before using in biological assays, the product must be filter sterilized and depending on the concentration to be used, dialyzed against culture medium to remove the sodium azide added. Inhibits IL-6-induced proliferation of the B9 assay. Useful for immunochemical investigations of murine IL-6 in structural studies and for quantitative/qualitative immunochemical detection methods. This antibody may be used as a coating antibody in EIA procedures. |
| Localization: | Secreted |
| Background: | IL-6 is a pluripotent 20-22 kDa cytokine which plays a role in the pathophysiology of severe infection and regulates the immune response, acute phase reaction and haematopoiesis. IL-6 plays a critical role in B-cell differentiation to plasma cells and is a potent growth factor for plasmacytoma and myeloma. Coninous IL-6 gene expression makes an essential contribution to a multistep oncogenesis of plasma cell neoplasia. IL-6 is a very useful culture supplement for the generation of a high number of antibody-producing hybridomas. |
